Sound science aims to sharpen speech for hearing device users
NCT ID NCT05599165
Summary
This study tested a new sound processing method to help people who use a cochlear implant in one ear and a hearing aid in the other ear. Researchers worked with 40 adults to identify which parts of speech sounds are most important for clear understanding and which parts cause confusion. They then tested if boosting the helpful sounds or reducing the confusing ones could improve a person's ability to recognize consonants.
