First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study tests a drug called SP-420 in people with two blood disorders—beta thalassemia and low-risk myelodysplastic syndromes—who need regular blood transfusions. Transfusions can cause dangerous iron buildup in organs. The drug aims to safely remove that extra iron. About 90 adults will take the medication three times a week and have MRI scans to check iron levels in the liver.
