First seen Nov 18, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study tested giving a daily pill called sonidegib for 12 weeks before surgery or a cream for people with basal cell carcinoma in cosmetically sensitive areas like the face. The goal was to see if the pill could shrink tumors enough to make surgery less scarring or even avoid it. Sixteen adults with this type of skin cancer took part, and researchers measured tumor changes using special imaging and biopsies.
