Simple pill may tame dangerous blood pressure surges during dialysis

NCT ID NCT07231900

Summary

This study is testing whether taking sodium bicarbonate pills can prevent dangerous spikes in blood pressure that some patients experience during their dialysis treatments. The trial will involve 40 adults on long-term dialysis who regularly have these blood pressure surges. Participants will take either the sodium bicarbonate pills or a placebo (inactive pill) twice a day for one month to see which is more effective.
