Can social training help people with schizophrenia connect better?

NCT ID NCT00587561

Summary

This study tested whether social skills training could help people with schizophrenia improve their ability to understand social cues and interact with others. About 51 participants with schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder were randomly assigned to either receive 20-24 sessions of social cognition training or be placed on a waitlist. Researchers measured changes in social skills, thinking abilities, and daily functioning before and after the training to see if it made a difference.
