Smartshoes aim to unfreeze Parkinson's patients

NCT ID NCT07001072

First seen May 09, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This pilot study tests whether special shoes that vibrate can safely help people with Parkinson's disease who experience freezing of gait — a sudden inability to move their feet while walking. Researchers will enroll 20 participants to see if the vibration feedback is tolerable and can reduce the duration of freezing episodes. The goal is to ease a common and dangerous symptom, not to cure the disease.
