Phone therapy with AI coach shows promise for social anxiety

NCT ID NCT07533812

First seen Apr 20, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study tests two 4-week smartphone treatments for social anxiety, one using psychodynamic therapy and the other cognitive behavioral therapy, both guided by an AI assistant instead of a human therapist. About 90 adults with social anxiety will be randomly assigned to one of the two treatments or a waitlist. The goal is to see if AI-supported therapy can reduce fear and avoidance in social situations.
