New hope for aggressive brain tumors: surgery plus laser treatment

NCT ID NCT07384884

First seen Feb 03, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study tests a new approach for a rare and aggressive brain tumor called butterfly glioblastoma, which crosses both sides of the brain and has a very short survival time. The treatment combines standard surgery to remove the larger tumor part with a minimally invasive laser to destroy the smaller part on the other side. The goal is to improve survival and quality of life while reducing damage to healthy brain tissue. The study will enroll 12 adults whose tumors are suitable for this combined procedure.
