First seen Nov 05, 2025 · Last updated Jun 21, 2026 · Updated 33 times
Summary
This early-phase study tests a new drug called SL-401 combined with two other drugs (azacitidine and venetoclax) in people with certain blood cancers—acute myeloid leukemia, myelodysplastic syndrome, and blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasm. The main goal is to find the safest dose and see how well the combination works. About 72 adults who have not responded to prior treatment or cannot have standard therapy will take part.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
SL-401 (a drug that targets leukemia cells) combined with azacitidine (chemotherapy) and venetoclax (a targeted therapy)
What this could lead to
If this works, it could offer a new treatment option for people with hard-to-treat blood cancers like AML, MDS, and BPDCN.
What could go wrong
This is an early Phase 1 trial with only 72 participants, so it's mainly checking safety and dosing. It may not lead to a proven treatment, and side effects from the drug combination are unknown.
Conditions
