Summary

This study tests a new device that uses sound waves (lithotripsy) to break up calcium buildup in the carotid arteries of the neck before placing a stent. About 185 adults with hardened carotid arteries will receive this treatment. The main goal is to see if the procedure is safe, by checking for death, stroke, or heart attack within 30 days.
