Scientists map the invisible world on your skin to fight eczema

NCT ID NCT00605878

Summary

This study aims to understand the community of microbes (like bacteria and fungi) that live on human skin and how they might contribute to eczema, also known as atopic dermatitis. Researchers are enrolling healthy volunteers and people with moderate to severe eczema, as well as people with certain rare immune disorders, to collect skin and blood samples for analysis. The goal is to learn how the skin's microscopic inhabitants differ between healthy skin and skin affected by eczema, which could lead to better future treatments.
