New heart procedure could be safer and just as effective for AFib
NCT ID NCT05534581
First seen Mar 30, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This study compares two procedures to treat a common heart rhythm problem called paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (AFib). The standard method uses a freezing balloon, while the newer method uses electrical pulses. Researchers want to see if the new method is just as good at preventing AFib from coming back and if it causes fewer side effects. About 210 adults with AFib will take part.
