Could a single HPV shot be enough to prevent cervical cancer?

NCT ID NCT05237947

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study is testing whether a single dose of the HPV vaccine can protect young women aged 18 to 30 from cervical cancer. Currently, two or three doses are recommended, but a single dose could make vaccination easier and cheaper. The trial involves 5,000 women in Costa Rica and will compare infection rates between those who get one dose and those who get none.
