Silver shield for heart pump wires: new dressing fights deadly infections
NCT ID NCT05163392
Summary
This study tested if a special silver-coated dressing could prevent infections where the power cord for a Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) exits the skin. Twenty-five patients with these heart pumps were randomly assigned to use either the new silver dressing or a standard dressing. Researchers compared how often infections and skin irritation occurred with each type of dressing.
