Cuddle care: side kangaroo position may soothe preemies on breathing support

NCT ID NCT07428408

First seen Feb 24, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study looks at whether placing newborns who need breathing help (nCPAP) on their side against their mother's chest improves comfort and vital signs like heart rate and oxygen levels. About 92 babies born between 32 and 36 weeks will be randomly assigned to either the side kangaroo position or standard care. Researchers will measure comfort using a special scale and track vital signs before, during, and after the hold.
