Summary

This study tested whether choosing cancer drugs based on the genetic profile of a patient's tumor works better than standard chemotherapy for people with advanced solid tumors that no longer respond to usual treatments. Over 700 participants had a biopsy to identify genetic changes, then were randomly assigned to receive either a targeted drug matched to their tumor's profile or standard treatment chosen by their doctor. The main goal was to see if the personalized approach could slow cancer growth longer than standard care.
