Summary
This completed study looked at how two diabetes medications, dapagliflozin and empagliflozin, affect weight, cholesterol, and inflammation in 260 obese adults newly diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Over six months, participants took either metformin (standard care) or one of the two SGLT2 inhibitors. The goal was to understand how these drugs influence bile acid genes and overall metabolic health.
