Tribal-Led program aims to empower native youth with holistic health education

NCT ID NCT03694418

Summary

This study tested a community-designed program to help prevent risky sexual behavior among American Indian teenagers. The program involved school lessons, family communication workshops, cultural mentoring with elders, and better coordination of local youth services. Researchers worked with 453 teens aged 14-18 from the Fort Peck community over five years to see if the program increased safe sex practices and improved health knowledge.
