Less anesthesia, same safety: new study on kidney stone surgery
NCT ID NCT07248917
First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study looked at two ways of giving anesthesia during kidney stone surgery. 62 adults were split into two groups: one got a very low gas flow (minimal-flow) and the other a slightly higher flow (low-flow). The goal was to see if the minimal-flow method used less anesthesia medicine while keeping patients safely asleep. Results showed minimal-flow used less medicine and was just as safe, suggesting it could be a better choice for cost and the environment.
