First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 07, 2026 · Updated 29 times
Summary
This study tested whether a nerve block (serratus anterior plane block) can reduce pain and the need for strong painkillers after minimally invasive mitral valve repair. 78 adults having this heart surgery were randomly assigned to receive either the nerve block or a placebo. The main goals were to measure pain levels and opioid painkiller use during their hospital stay.
