Scientists hunt for a yardstick to measure rare nerve damage
NCT ID NCT07651540
First seen Jun 22, 2026 · Last updated Jun 22, 2026
Summary
This study aims to find the most useful clinical scale for tracking sensory neuronopathy, a rare condition that damages nerve cells and can cause severe disability. Researchers will follow 70 adults for 12 months, testing several rating scales at each visit. The goal is to identify a tool that reliably measures disease progression, which could improve patient monitoring and treatment evaluation.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this study could identify a reliable way to measure disease progression in sensory neuronopathy, helping doctors better track and manage the condition.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It may not find a clear winner among the scales, and results may not apply to all patients with sensory neuronopathy.
As listed by the trial registrant
The condition terms exactly as the trial's registrant entered them.
