Calming kids before surgery: new study tests inhalable sedation options

NCT ID NCT05821972

Summary

This study compares two inhaled sedation methods to help children feel calm before cleft palate surgery and reduce agitation when waking up. Researchers are testing whether adding ketamine to dexmedetomidine works better than dexmedetomidine alone. The trial involves 60 children undergoing cleft palate repair to see which approach provides better sedation with fewer side effects.
