First seen May 15, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested a combination of two drugs, peginterferon alfa-2a and ribavirin, as a second-line treatment for chronic hepatitis C in 17 people with HIV who had not responded to their first hepatitis C treatment. The goal was to see if this approach could clear the hepatitis C virus from the body. Participants received weekly injections and daily pills for 48 weeks, and the main measure of success was whether the virus remained undetectable 24 weeks after treatment ended.
