Can a puff of oxygen save tiny lungs? new study aims to make baby intubation safer.

NCT ID NCT06683599

First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study looks at whether giving extra oxygen through a nose tube during intubation helps babies under one year old breathe more safely. Intubation is when a breathing tube is placed into the windpipe, which can be risky for infants because their oxygen levels can drop quickly. The study will compare babies who get extra oxygen with those who do not, to see if it improves the success rate on the first try and reduces complications.
