First seen Feb 01, 2026 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 14 times
Summary
This study tests whether a one-time, 30-minute electrical stimulation of the sciatic nerve (called PENS) can quickly reduce leg pain and improve daily function in people with long-term sciatica. 88 adults with sciatica for over 6 months will be randomly assigned to receive PENS, TENS (skin patches), dry needling, or a placebo. Researchers will measure pain, disability, and quality of life right after treatment and one week later to see if PENS offers better relief.
