Can diet and exercise reverse muscle loss in obese seniors?
NCT ID NCT07523672
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jul 22, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tests a care model combining diet and exercise for older adults with sarcopenic obesity—a condition where people have both high body fat and low muscle mass. Researchers will measure changes in body fat, muscle mass, and physical performance like walking speed. The goal is to see if this program can help improve strength and mobility.

- Active substance
- diet and exercise program
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could point toward a simple, non-drug way to help older adults with sarcopenic obesity improve their muscle strength and physical function.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage trial with only 66 participants. The program may not work for everyone, and results may not apply to people with other health conditions.
