Gum disease and kidney trouble: new clues from saliva and blood
NCT ID NCT07498894
First seen Apr 01, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 8 times
Summary
This study looked at 126 people with type 2 diabetes, some with kidney disease (diabetic nephropathy) and some without. Researchers measured three inflammatory markers (NGAL, TNF-α, and IL-10) in both saliva and blood to see how they relate to gum health. The goal was to better understand the link between gum disease and diabetes-related kidney problems, not to test a treatment.
