New biopsy method could slash dangerous prostate biopsy infections

NCT ID NCT04815876

Summary

This study compared two different approaches for performing prostate biopsies to see which is safer and more effective. Researchers tested a new method that goes through the skin behind the scrotum against the standard method that goes through the rectum. They wanted to see if the new approach reduces infections, causes similar discomfort, and helps find prostate cancer better, especially in hard-to-reach areas.
