First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 29 times
Summary
This study tests whether a new AI system can find tiny amounts of cancer left behind after treatment (called minimal residual disease) earlier than current methods. It will involve 700 adults with rectal or esophageal cancer who are scheduled for surgery. The AI combines blood tests, genetic data, and scans to predict if cancer will return, aiming to improve accuracy by at least 20% over standard tools.
