New artery procedure could replace daily pills for Hormone-Related high blood pressure

NCT ID NCT07328230

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study tests a minimally invasive procedure called superselective adrenal artery embolization (SAAE) against the standard pill spironolactone for treating idiopathic hyperaldosteronism, a condition causing high blood pressure due to hormone overproduction. About 172 participants aged 15-60 will be randomly assigned to one of the two treatments. The goal is to see if SAAE can control blood pressure as well as or better than medication, with fewer side effects.
