First seen Apr 10, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This study explored whether a protein called S100B, measured in the blood, can help predict memory problems or confusion after surgery. Researchers followed 137 adults having elective surgery, testing their thinking skills before and up to 6 months after. The goal was to see if S100B levels or gene variations could identify patients at higher risk, which might help doctors provide better care.
