Radioactive drug RYZ401 takes aim at neuroendocrine tumors in first human trial

NCT ID NCT07165132

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026 · Updated 31 times

Summary

This early-stage trial tests a new radioactive drug called RYZ401 in people with neuroendocrine tumors and other solid tumors that have a specific protein on their surface. The drug delivers radiation directly to cancer cells. The study will enroll about 104 adults to find the safest dose and see if the drug shrinks tumors.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

RYZ401 (a radioactive drug containing Actinium-225)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could lead to a new treatment option for people with neuroendocrine tumors that have not responded to other therapies.

What could go wrong

This is a very early Phase 1 trial with only 104 participants, so the drug may not work or could have serious side effects. The radioactive nature of the drug also carries risks.
