Dual-Purpose drug: could roxadustat fight both anemia and muscle wasting in dialysis?

NCT ID NCT07162090

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study looks at whether roxadustat, a drug used to treat anemia in kidney disease, can also help reduce muscle loss (sarcopenia) in people on hemodialysis. About 60 adults with end-stage kidney disease and anemia will receive either roxadustat or standard treatment. Researchers will measure muscle strength, size, and walking speed to see if roxadustat offers extra benefits beyond treating anemia.
