First seen Nov 17, 2025 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study tested whether injecting the anesthetic ropivacaine into the perineum after an episiotomy (a cut made during childbirth) reduces pain better than a placebo. 272 women who had an episiotomy during delivery took part. The goal was to see if this simple treatment could improve recovery and reduce long-lasting pain.
