Robot takes aim at uncomfortable eye exams

NCT ID NCT06451068

Summary

This study is testing a new robotic scanner designed to take detailed 3D pictures of the outer edges of the retina, an area that is hard to see with current technology. Researchers will compare this new scanner to the standard manual eye exam in 58 adults to see if it finds retinal tears just as well and if it's more comfortable for patients. The goal is to develop a better tool for diagnosing problems in the peripheral retina.
