Summary
This study tests whether the drug rituximab can safely clear Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) from the blood of people who have received a solid organ transplant. High levels of EBV can lead to a serious cancer called post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorder (PTLD). The trial will enroll 28 adults with EBV in their blood to see if rituximab can prevent PTLD when lowering immune-suppressing medications is not an option.
