New study seeks clues to help tiniest babies breathe easier

NCT ID NCT07186790

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study looks at why some very premature babies (born before 32 weeks and weighing under 1,500 grams) fail to get enough oxygen from a mask or nasal prongs and need a breathing tube instead. Researchers will review medical records of 160 infants to find risk factors that lead to this switch. The goal is to help doctors identify at-risk babies earlier and improve care in the neonatal intensive care unit.
