Drug-Free hope for millions with mild hypertension

NCT ID NCT04753840

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study tests whether a non-drug method called remote ischemic preconditioning (RIPC) — brief cycles of inflating and deflating a blood pressure cuff on the arm — combined with mindfulness training can lower blood pressure in people with mild hypertension. Researchers will enroll 400 adults diagnosed with mild hypertension (systolic 140-159 mmHg) and measure blood pressure changes over time. The goal is to find a safe, drug-free way to manage mild hypertension and reduce health risks.
