First seen Jan 23, 2026 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study aims to find out how often rhinovirus (the virus behind many common colds) causes serious breathing problems that require hospital care in children. Researchers will follow 120 young children at home for 3 years and study 450 hospitalized infants and children, plus 100 healthy older kids for comparison. By analyzing nasal samples, they hope to identify which virus types and body responses lead to severe illness.
