New CF drug under watchful eye after past side effects
NCT ID NCT06683092
First seen Nov 03, 2025 · Last updated Jun 22, 2026 · Updated 35 times
Summary
This study follows 200 people with cystic fibrosis, ages 6 and up, who are starting a new triple therapy drug (VTD) after having mental health or liver problems on a similar drug (ETI). Researchers will track how many need to stop or change VTD due to side effects, and how many have worsening mental health or liver injury over a year. The goal is to gather safety data, not to test if the drug works.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
vanzacaftor/tezacaftor/deutivacaftor (VTD)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that VTD is a safer option for people with cystic fibrosis who had mental health or liver problems on a similar drug.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial, so it won't prove VTD works better. Results depend on participant reports and may not apply to everyone.
Conditions
The condition(s) this trial relates to.
As listed by the trial registrant
The condition terms exactly as the trial's registrant entered them.
