New study peers inside the eye to unlock secrets of vision healing

NCT ID NCT01767038

First seen Feb 09, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This study looked at 202 people who had surgery for a detached retina, a condition where the light-sensitive layer at the back of the eye pulls away. The goal was to understand why some patients regain good vision while others do not. Researchers used advanced eye scans (OCT) and vision tests to find links between the eye's structure and how well it sees. The findings will help design future treatments to prevent lasting vision loss.
