Immunotherapy may let some colon cancer patients skip surgery

NCT ID NCT07409844

First seen Feb 15, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study tests whether giving the immunotherapy drug pembrolizumab before planned surgery can make some colon cancers disappear completely. About 152 adults with a specific genetic type of colon cancer (dMMR) will receive different doses of the drug. If scans and scopes show no cancer left, they may avoid surgery and just be watched closely. If cancer remains, they will have standard surgery. The goal is to see if a personalized, less invasive approach is safe and effective.
