Scientists track muscle recovery after intense workouts

NCT ID NCT07503860

First seen Apr 09, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study looks at how the body's markers of muscle damage change after a tough leg workout, and whether a second workout causes less damage. Forty-eight healthy, active men will have their pain, strength, and muscle thickness measured before and after exercise. The goal is to better understand the 'repeated bout effect' where muscles become more resistant to damage after an initial session.
