Summary
This study is testing if a special high-flow nasal cannula (a comfortable tube that delivers warm, moist oxygen) is better than usual care at helping high-risk heart surgery patients breathe on their own after their breathing tube is first removed. It aims to see if this method reduces the chance they will need the breathing tube put back in within 48 hours. The trial involves over 3,500 adult patients who have had long heart surgeries.
