Reading to babies may boost Brain-Body health, tiny study suggests
NCT ID NCT05004857
First seen May 19, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This small pilot study looks at whether a mother reading aloud to her newborn in the hospital can improve the baby's nervous system function. Researchers measured changes in vagal tone and parasympathetic response, which are linked to calmness and healthy development. Only one baby and mother participated, so results are very early and not generalizable.
