Scientists map the deaf Brain's unique reading pathways

NCT ID NCT00400413

Summary

This study aimed to understand how the brain processes reading in people who have been deaf since birth. Researchers used brain scans to compare the reading pathways of 60 deaf adults with those of hearing adults. The goal was to learn if the brain organizes reading skills differently when someone cannot hear speech sounds.
