Balance exercises may double as fitness training for stroke survivors

NCT ID NCT04042961

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 31 times

Summary

This study looked at whether reactive balance training (practicing quick steps to avoid falling) can also improve aerobic fitness and leg strength in people who had a stroke. Researchers compared it to standard aerobic and strength exercises. The goal was to see if balance training could offer similar fitness benefits while also improving balance control. The study was terminated early, so results are limited.
