Milk protein may boost iron and exercise in healthy adults

NCT ID NCT06428357

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study looked at whether a supplement called recombinant bovine lactoferrin (rbLf) can help healthy adults better regulate iron, improve gut health, and support immune function. About 110 active men and women aged 18–42 took either rbLf, regular lactoferrin from cow's milk, or a placebo daily for 4 weeks. Researchers measured changes in iron levels, red blood cells, and exercise endurance through blood tests and treadmill runs.
