Heart risk in cancer surgery: should you pause your blood pressure pill?

NCT ID NCT06862115

First seen Nov 18, 2025 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study looks at whether temporarily stopping certain blood pressure medications (called RAS inhibitors) before major colorectal cancer surgery increases the risk of heart injury. About 156 adults with high blood pressure who are scheduled for this surgery will be randomly assigned to either stop or continue their medication. The main goal is to see if stopping the drug is safe and does not lead to more heart damage after surgery.
