Blood test ratio may forecast heart risks in severe heart attacks
NCT ID NCT07507110
First seen Apr 11, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 8 times
Summary
This study looked at 264 patients who had a severe heart attack complicated by cardiogenic shock (when the heart can't pump enough blood). Researchers wanted to see if a simple blood test ratio, called red blood cell distribution width-to-albumin ratio (RAR), could predict major heart problems like death, another heart attack, or stroke during the hospital stay. The goal was to find a way to identify high-risk patients early using routine lab results.
